Seems like the weather this summer is pretty bad for a lot of folks so far and here is no exception. I have a number of targets in various stages of planning and execution that are very slow to progress as a result, but this one comes closest to having enough data to at least see what it might eventually yield. After PI's SFS process, I am holding:
R: 23x2minutes
G: 21x2minutes
B: 21x2minutes
AstroPhysics EDF 130mm f/6 with flattener, QHY268M with Optolong RGB filters, AM5N
NINA, PHD2, PixInsight with RCAstro X suite
So not a horrible result for a bit over 2 hours total imaging time for a target that doesn't get very high for me. Not sure how much more time I will devote to it because of its location. As a glutton for punishment, I have other low-hanging fruit targets I would like to pick up this summer as well, but my windows are closing quickly. Here's hoping the weather relents, for all of us.
Edit: after posting this, I spent a bit of time adding about an hour of dual band OSC data that I had saved from 2020. With the result of very basic addition and little extra processing, I think I am moving on from M16. Of course it could use more time, but there are other targets beckoning and this one won't get a whole lot prettier even with double the time which I am not likely to get anyway!
