I've had a 8mm Radian and 2.5x Powermate on Astromart for a few days now. I suspected they would have sold in hours, but I haven't gotten a single inquiry for either. What's going on? I guess these items aren't as hot as some, huh? Surprised me.

What are you asking for them? I would think the powermate would go for about $140-$150 and the radian for about $170-$180.

yep...that's what I'm asking. $150 and $180 I think.

That's about the usual price for those items. A quick sale would require some discount - but they will usually move at those prices within a week or two.

It's a holiday weekend - everyone is out doing family obligation stuff. When they get back next week they'll see it.

Ya I agree. Your timing may be off. You could always yank them so you don't look desperate and repost in a week.

I already have the 8mm radian! Sorry.
I want a 2.5 powermate but not for a month or three. Double sorry!

I don't mind looking desperate, Ron ;)

thanks for the reassurances, all. I'm sure they'll sell soon enough.

Selling stuff is just generally a weird experience. I've posted stuff that has languished for weeks. Then I post it again and get several replies. I can't explain why. One eyepiece was posted multiple times spaced out over the better part of a year. I kept thinking that maybe I was asking too much, even though what I was asking was generously discounted from new cost. Finally, when I sold it, the guy wanted to know why I was selling it so cheap. He was almost scared off by the low price. Go figure.

I love buying stuff. I hate selling it. So, I always lose when selling. So it goes.

Make sure your spam filter is not trashing emails from astromart as mine was. You can do a test by going to log in on AM and selecting the link as if you have forgotten your password. If you never get the password email you won't be getting replies from buyers either.

The karma on Astromart is wierd. I tried for three months to snag a 2X Powermate, but was always late - sometimes only a couple of minutes. So I tried the "Wanted" route, and was deluged.

Now it looks like a lot of folks looking for the Pan 35 and the Radian 5....if I didn't have a Twin-X for my Denks, I'd be looking for a pair of Radian 8s, but they're now too close to the 18s at 2X.

OTOH, I have had listed a brand new C11 wedge, modified per Bob Berta, RJ's Bolts, and the upgrade kit installed - about 20% off street price unassembled...and no serious takers.

It all depends on when somebody wants something.

Yeah astromart does have a karmaish personality to it. What has always amazed me is how things go in phases, you will see a bunch of something then won't see anyone selling that item for monthes

An over-zealous SPAM filter was the culprit in a week or more delay in hearing from a seller on Astromart.

"It all depends on when somebody wants something. "

Exactly and how bad they want it. All you can do is to put them up again and again. Someone will take them eventually.

It's just a case of trying to foist inferior accessories off on knowledgeable buyers. Nobody wants Televue junk like Powermates or Radians. Like that Powermate 2.5×... I'm sure you need the room in your eyepiece case, so I would be willing to give you $50 for it. Just to help you out, you know.

I'll echo Davids thoughts on the Powermate. My sympathies go out to you on having to unload that piece of junk. If David doesn't mind, i'll up the offer to $51.00 :winky:

Just out of curiosity, why are you selling them? I may be interested in the 8mm Radian.

Aeryk,
Jeff is an eyepiece addict and part of his 12 step program is to unload a few of his purchases! We have all learned a lot from all his reviews so we are not sure we really want him reformed.

Just ask him how many 8mm eyepieces he has! We definitely don't want him reformed, atleast not until he reviews the ones on my top 10 most wanted list! ;)

Yeah, no cheating, Jeff. You have to count the Speers-Waler 5-8mm zoom as an 8mm, too :)

Excuuuusssee me, but we prefer the term "Eyepiece Aficianado". Thank you for your understanding.

yeah...just need to get some cash back everyone. The 8mm Radian is in excellent shape, but I can't justify holding onto a $180-190 EP (used price) that I just don't use THAT often. As for the 2.5x Powermate, I'm unloading it because I don't need to use it much now that I've got a 3-6 zoom.

Number of 8mm EPs = 4, including the 5-8mm zoom on the way. Five, if you include my 7.5mm Ultrascopic. But if the 5-8 zoom works as nicely as I hope, I'll ditch all of these others. Trying to downsize the collection, without really giving anything up.
