How does it compare to the type 6? I ask because I have looked through a type 6 and must confess it was the first nagler I liked.

Hi, Ron.

It's very similar to the 14mm UWA; I never showed one of either to anyone who didn't like it. Not much like a T6, though (I like these MUCH better than the T6) - so you might not like it.

Which Naglers didn't you like? If they were the 7mm or 4.8mm I agree completely.

I think the 7 was one of them. A couple weekends ago I used a bunch of naglers but they were larger units. And I did not write anything down. But they were used in slower dobs, SCT and the mak.

If you read around the web the 7 seems to be highly thought of. Just goes to prove you really need to test drive these things.

Thanks for the feedback. Guess I'll save my pennies.

Ron,

Both t1 and t6 7mm naglers are pure 1.25 units, and not *that* large as far as naglers are concerned.

OTOH - compared to say a 7mm ortho or plossl, the 7mm nagler is rather a large beast.

I have used the 7 long time ago, all the recently used ones were 2" units, just can't recall the size in mm since we moved around abit and the first night I was lucky to just stay awake. All the scope had long focal lengths so there was no need to pull out E.P.'s in the single digit range.

I am going to have to try a 7mm in my dob someday just to see how it works.

Next time I'm at Skywatchers Inn I'll try and pay more attention to the eye pieces. :D

John,

I agree. It's a relief, I almost bought that one in addition to the 22mm Nagler that I bought on AM yesterday. I was thinking it would have made a great planetary eyepiece in my f10.

Of course, if I had bought it then I would be sleeping in my garage for a month. But, hey, that's just the price we pay for this hobby.

I guess I dodged that bullet. :)
