I am having a horrid time of getting SN Pro Plus 6.0.6 to install on a Dell Inspiron laptop. XP SP2. It installs clean through and when I attempt to use the telescope function, all I get is the dreaded Error 429. I have uninstalled, installed, uninstalled... and finally just gave up. Clearly something is not being registered or installed correctly and I have no idea where to start hunting beyond this:

In the install log there are two errors, both related to a java utility install issue. I suspect this is the culprit but I can not find a way to work through this as you can not see the "zip" files that SN is working from (that I know of). Any ideas?

Sam -

Two thoughts. Do you have the most recent version of Java installed? Also do you have the ASCOM utility installed? I believe you need this to connect to a celestron scope.

You might also post on the Starry Night Yahoo group. The support personnel monitor the group and respond to questions.

Just another thought; perhaps a security issue running Java...
