Hi there,

I'm interested in purchasing a mount from astroshop.eu but I am somewhat worried that nowhere else seems to have this particular mount in stock (I think it might have been discontinued) and in one of my email responses I got an automated response rather than someone from customer support.

I have been let down before like this and want to know if anyone else had experience dealing with astroshop.eu and whether people would recommend using them before I went ahead and purchased from them.

Thanks in advance,

Ben

I've bought all my equipment from astroshop.eu so far (technically astroshop.de, but I doubt there's much of a difference in quality between the locations) and had no problems with them.

Bought a few bits from them, and been good. Had to ask a question or two and also got a response in reasonable time. Especially as they had to ask similar of the supplier.

They have TS items and I wanted one, I also wanted something else that TS did not have and they did, so purchased both from Astroshop, but had a question about the TS item. They contacted TS.

What is the mount? Would help to know.

Another aspect may be that they have the mount "somewhere".

I think, vaguely, they began as a Belgium company, I seem to recall a .be web address.

Get the idea that are more Germany now and have seen a Spanish web site address also.

Either expansion or they are buying up other Astro shops/retailers. In effect they could have a number of places around bits of the EU and the mount may be in one place and maybe the only one.

Surprised at no email response. I would try again.

I dealt with them a few months ago and had an excellent customer service experience.

I ordered a mount that they had in stock.  It shipped via DHL and arrived in less than a week.  It was damaged so I had to return it and they sent another. They double boxed the second one at my request, but it was damaged in the same exact way.  Clearly, this was a manufacturer defect, so they took that one back as well.  Both returns' shipping costs were covered by them, and refunds were credited to my card quickly.

They do have an automated reply set up to acknowledge receipt of a customer's email, but that was always followed by a personal email within a day or so (this was at the height of COVID in Europe).

Although I didn't end up getting what I wanted, I was not hurt financially, and they sent me a gift card worth $35 to compensate me for the running around I did with the return shipping.

I thought they couldn't have treated me any better.

I also bought some bits from them, and no problem so far. Astroshop, as well as Omegon, are part of the same German group, nimax GmbH. So don't be surprised if you see a payment to this company in your PayPal or bank statement wink.gif

How did our story begin?

Gazing into the sky far away from the city. Thousands of stars. A pleasant coolness. There’s a shooting star. And the feeling of being totally alone with the universe.

Born out of our passion for astronomy, Astroshop.de has become one of the largest telescope dealers in Europe. What started in 2000 as a small company run from their garage by brothers Dominik and Ben Schwarz, is today a company with more than 70 employees and branches and showrooms in eight countries.

Our range caters for enthusiasts and beginners, ambitious amateur astronomers, and professional observatories who specialise in research and teaching.

You can learn more about the company here.

It was an iOpton CEM25P.  I've learned since I first saw it that it has no been discontinued hence my surprise they had them in stock.  Since it is major purchase I didn't want to make the wrong choice of dealer.

I bought from them. No issues. Fast delivery (well, I live in Germany).

I've bought from them a few times and haven't had any issues.

Note that they currently have a notice on their homepage:

We recommend that you order products that are in stock if possible (recognizable by the green delivery status traffic light), because a large number of suppliers are not able deliver according to their usual delivery terms at the moment.

But the CEM25P is green so that won't be a problem.
