Hi everyone.

Just wondering something: I have both a laptop PC and a PowerBook G4.

What is it better to use for astrophotography and visual use, the PC or the PowerBook?

The other thing is that TheSky 6 have not been developed for the MAC so I'm kind of sad for that....

Sadly, most of the astrophotography tools are Winders apps. Starry Night Pro runs great on my iBook G4, and drives the LX200 too.

I went with the PowerBook and there have been days I second guessed myself. I decided on the 12" for its' small size and that has been a real boon. Really nice to have a compact - yet good sized keyboard - that is easy to haul around. My next laptop will be a bit larger but I think I'll stick with the Apples. While I like several of the PC brands, IBM and Sony in particular - they all seem like kludges to carry compared to the Apple.

I agree here. I use both platforms but I really strongly prefer the Macintosh systems. If you look you'll be able to find all the tools you need just fine, althoug the PC does have more of them. Starry Nights is GREAT and cross platform. Hopefully more products will go this way. try going to www.macastronomy.com as well to see a few tools. Try searching for Celestia as well and just searching for other tools. I haven't found anything I couldn't do with the Mac yet, just had to look for a little bit for some things. :)

Those are PC only - at least for the time being. I tend to save programs like that for my desktop which has more poop to handle them. Which is true of desktops vs. laptops - in general. Certainly money wise; you can get more power for the buck via a desktop. So I use the laptop to gather the data and run Starry Night (or EquinoX) and play iTunes.
