I took this image among many others with my handheld note 4 phone camera at the end of my 6mm Delos eyepiece through my 18 inch dob.  The crater chain is no doubt the result of a series of impacts from a fragmented comet broken up by tidal forces.

It's actually a screenshot from a 4K video segment.   The camera capabilities in the note 4 are amazing to say the least.

Darren,

Nice shot! Have you tried stacking the video?

Darren,

Try Autostakkert to stack the video and Registax to sharpen the final image with wavelets. Happy reading

Nice photo for a frame from a cell phone video.

There is indeed doubt regarding how this and other chains of craters on the moon were formed.

Some lunar and planetary scientists think this chain (and others) was formed due to volcanic action according to the Davy crater Wikipedia page.

The break up of some object by tidal forces is certainly one possible scenario.

Knowing if that object was a comet or an asteroid is less certain.

Nice shot.

Here is my humble attempt from some time ago. The air was not very steady that night. I was going to try again on a better night but just have not got around to it yet.

This was taken with my 6" refractor and Iphone 6.
