I am new to the hobby, but the lunar eclipse was the most dramatic thing I have witnessed to date over this entire year. We had perfectly clear skies.

I took lots of pictures. There was good vibes at the observing site I choose, never seen so many strangers out for a common astronomical event. The moon turned the most red I have ever seen.

Gave a new meaning to the term "blood moon", from which I always thought was nothing more than a slight rust color-change. It completely blew me away.

Not a specific event but a time in my life.  In my Navy days I crossed the Pacific 3 times and spent probably 16 months at sea, much of it near the equator.  I don't remember looking up at the stars even once. It must have been amazing, don't know how I could have missed it.
