I just came across this gem on my newsfeed.

EDIT: I was going to go binocular hunting, then I realized it is not going to happen for us northerners as this is a summer constellation. :(

I just got excited by this story- reminiscent from when I first got into astronomy.

My very first object I saw was Comet Ison.

Oh well, southerners can enjoy this treat!

Actually, Comet C/2016 U1 NEOWISE will be visible from the northern hemisphere in the pre-dawn sky.

Visibility prospects: At its brightest, Comet C/2016 U1 NEOWISE will pass through the constellations Ophiuchus to Serpens Cauda and Sagittarius, and is best visible in the dawn sky 12 degrees from the Sun at maximum brightness. This apparition favors the northern hemisphere.

I **think** my first comet was Comet Bennett in 1970.

Thanks for the heads up.  I'll get the elements into MegaStar so I can print a chart, if the clouds cooperate!
