I had about 45 minute window to view the transit. From 6:15 to 6:45 it was kinda clear. Weird how it happened though. I set up in my neighbors yard, she had passed away 3 years prior, I asked her to make it clear for me for a little while, and about 10 minutes later it cleared up.
Anyways here is one of the pictures. I sent a few to the local news, wtov9, and they showed my picture and talked about the transit right after the weather. I'm beyond excited that happened.
That's awesome! And great pics from everyone on the event!

Clouded over here after a promising prediction of thunderbumpers moving through - clouds came in and stalled.
Now I gotta wait until 2017...dang!
Sorry, Rusty...the next transit of Venus is 2117 rather than 2017. Only another hundred years.

Oh Rusty will see a total eclipse of the Sun in 2017, August 21st though. A purdy nice one at that.
August 21, 2017
The best one for us Clevelanders is on April 8, 2024 when the track of totality goes right over us!!!

Thanks to everybody for the birthday wishes. 63 today, and celebrating exactly 52 years as a telescope owner at exactly 4:30pm when my dad returned home from work. Great birthday, that was. Started me on my lifetime fascination with all things astronomical (equipment wise, anyway).

Here was the setup. The Jaegers 6" f/10 on the Atlas EQ-G. Behind that was my portable astro-station against my neighbor's garden as the backdrop. The only thing missing is some good Limoncello and a imported cigar!
Backyard astronomy the way it's intended to be - with a portable mount, a nice OTA hoisted up on it, a portable table work station and surrounded by friends and family...a perfect way to see the transit of Venus or any other astronomical event. Well done, Cuz! Looking forward to seeing you soon. By the way, the Limoncello would have distorted your visual perception and otherwise dulled the senses. The cigar would have smoked-up your objective. Better the way you did it.
