I would have thought a mission patch would have been the way to go since the space race is probably a major catalyst for the majority of the members interest in astronomy.

Anyway, the design came from a t-shirt I was wearing and the fact I was working on a paper about Georg Lucas. I went into the designer's office wearing the below and said I wanted a combination of that and the Rebel Alliance/Jedi symbol. They came back with the patch. The current CN font couldn't be manipulated, so I made a call. We have sold almost 50 in a half a day so I guess some people like it. lol

We have already had internal discussions about a t-shirt contest where members design a t-shirt, then the body votes on the top three, and we pick the winner. Sell them as a limited edition shirt once a year in November. We have a few other CN centric ideas to help with the cost of the servers.

They are not. They are a vintage heathered T-shirt so they are a cotton/poly blend. We might do a standard t-shirt next, but I am a sucker for a t-shirt that looks old and feels worn in.

Thanks for the quick answer, Mike! The "not 100% cotton" isn't a deal-breaker anyway, but I was just curious. BTW, just ordered one!

Actually the most important and useful piece of astronomy gear I think I have ever purchased is a 99 cent eyeglass cord from Walgreens. I keep one in ny goodie box and another in my eyepiece case and it is the very first thing I set up, even before the tripod. Absolutely essential for the geezer brigade!

Agreed. My glasses go on and off my face 500 times per night.
I am SO glad they're hanging right there when I need them.

A ton went out today. We ran out of shipping bags and the post office was out as well. However, they brought some by today and they are all packed up.

Is it likely that they will become available for "fuller figured" gentlemen?

Got mine yesterday. And most importantly, it was a piece of "astro gear" that got a high Spousal Approval Rating. Thanks, Mike!

I quit that glasses cord right off the bat. Dang glasses always got caught on something when bent over picking something up or working at something on the work bench that didn't require their need for the moment. Broke the first pair and that was it for the cord idea. I love pockets and that's final! :foreheadslap: Mike

back to reality-I think that this is a very good idea to support CNs,
show our membership status at Star Parties, etc
and have some useful clothes

assuming that i do not buy more,
I will get a Tee at the open house
(more if pockets available)
