Chelino's on Alameda just west of 12th street serves great Mexican food.

Tarahumara on Porter (just off Mike's map to the upper right, he has an indicator) is my favorite Mexican joint in Norman. They have the most awesome salsa verde.

NOOOO ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! You will end up as an ugly, bloody stain on Astronomics new floor! Very uncool way to spoil the grand opening ! :roflmao: :roflmao:

On a more serious note, thanks a lot for the map and the food map, and especially the parking suggestions. Y'all really are a first class service establishment.

Wow, looking at that map I realize I'm much closer than I thought I was. (You Are Here) I may just have to walk over. :) Oh well, maybe I can talk the wife into a mega drive for the weekend... 1800 miles round trip to attend a store opening that I don't really plan on purchasing anything at... I wonder if that will fly... When I told her about it yesterday she said 'Are We Going To Need The Truck?' LOL

As of now the OKC Astronomy Club and Norman North HS club should have a number of scopes set up in the area designated on the map, although the morning forecast is less than encouraging. Current weather projection is shower early, partial clearing in the afternoon and partly cloudy in the evening, which should allow moon viewing at least. I have not heard anything on this, but I suspect some of the manufacturer reps may be out with the observers allowing some use of new eyepieces (ES 120 anyone?) and there is a theater across the street which will be letting out before 10, plus the usual Main Street dining crowd, so public foot traffic ought to be good through the evening. Look forward to meeting incoming CN folks . . . and we promise not to do anything that would leave permanent marks on anyone in a Texas Longhorn shirt!

Just got to the La Quinta off of Ed Noble Pkwy. Eating at Ihop next door. Then gonna drive by Astronomics to make sure I can get there right.
Long drive here, but made an hour longer by the BLEEP traffic in Dallas. Took an hour to drive 30 miles. Ridiculous.
But we made it and will be there in the morning. Its almost surreal, especially with all the OU stuff everywhere.
Ill stick out like a sore thumb tomorrow tho. Haha.

Dang Matt, I'm in the same hotel! Maybe I'll see you at breakfast. I snuck by the store front too. What a small world. :)

It was nice seeing some great scopes in person and meeting some neihbors from Texas. Had a great time wondering around the place meeting people I have heard of on here and talking to reps. Thanks for a great event even though the weather didn't really work out and for having this great site.

The weather put a dampner on solar and any ideas of working late but I got the feeling that most folks did not mind it at all; seemed to be having too good of a time to worry about rain (which it seems we need real bad anyway so it's all good).

Hey Matt he got a good picture of you. I know your job lets you get around the country a lot and if you are ever spending the night in the Elk City area pm me or something and you will have a place to star gaze and a scope to use if you don't have yours with you and congrats on the little one on the way.
