Thanks :) It is indeed a C8 :) Planning to change it with an 8" f4 newtonian with carbon tube, but funding is already a bit of a stretch :)

I haven't seen an iEQ45 in person, but based on what I know about its size I thought that was a C8 and not a C6. Sure looks great, and will also with the carbon fiber Newtonian.

I have been considering an iEQ45. How do you like yours?

Let me chime in. I own a iEQ45 and used a C6 I sold last month.

Here there is a picture of that setup. And here there's a thread in wish I post the results of measuring PEC, which could get to 4.6 arcseconds!!!

The iEQ45 is such a great mount for me! I'm very happy I chose it.

Best regards

Alfredo

It's pretty new and I haven't had the chance to test it properly (waiting for a few pieces of my guiding setup). What I can say is that is vast improvement from my CG-5 :)

BTW Alfredo, your thread was one of the reasons I bought it :) It's also with the old controller, so I can't wait to get the PEC done and try to beat yours :)

P.S. Sorry to be posting here, I realize it is a thread for pictures.

I was worried about vibration with this setup... do you think the pier is strong enough for this application?

Other people have Grab-n-Go setups, this is my Grab-n-Glance equipment. ;) Setup time is ~10 seconds - good for glancing at the moon, jupiter, & saturn (and whatever catches my interest during the day out in the sound of course).

For proper size reference that is a 50mm scope (a Galileoscope).

And to continue in the same vein. no need to put a small mount on spindly legs!

A little update for the T-Rex, with apologies to Deep Space Products for hijacking their design for this one-off, I spent the day doing a bit of DIY in the shed:

A longer version of the T-Rex Quick Slew Handle. For you Northern residents, save yourself a lot of time and effort and just buy one from Ed.

To distinguish it from the original I have added the Crux and Pointers (not being pedantic but the holes are drilled to represent the apparent magnitudes ...)
Toliman 4.0mm
Hadar 4.0mm
Acrux 4.0mm
Mimosa 3.5mm
Gacrux 3.5mm
d Crucis 3.0mm
e Crucis 2.5mm

Once the paint hardens I will fit it to my little dinosaur:

Matt,
It looks like the mother ship is landing in your photo. Nice skies and scenic view. The scope isnt so bad either.

I use a DM6 with a red dot finder, works great. I just set up the tripod, attach the DM6 and then set the telescope in the tilt in saddle. Takes less than 5min to set up and stable as a rock.
