First, hello to everyone as I have just joined. My question: does anyone sell a smaller (less than 11 lb.) counterweight which will fit the CG5 dec shaft? I have some smaller scopes (SV66, C90, etc.) which cannot balance with the 11 lb. weight. Orion has a 7.5 lb. weight advertised but I don't know if the hole diameter will fit. Thanks.

The Orion fit perfectly. I have 2 of them for use with my CG-5s. Also Celestron use to supply the C6N ASGT with a 7½ lb and a 4 lb counter weight. Celestron does not sell them, but I have found them used.

I bought the SkyWatcher 3.42&1.8 kg (7.5 and 4 lbs) set from here and they work fine with my CG5:

I have a couple of Vixen counterweights that are less weight. One is 6.2 pounds and the other is 4.2 pounds. They are very handy for lightweight scopes and I love the white color. Much easier to see. Good luck.

Oops, forgot to mention that they both fit the CG-5 counterweight shaft beautifully.

Thanks everyone for the responses. The Skywatcher ones look like a good idea, but it seems I may have to get them from a Canadian vendor (if possible); none of the American Skywatcher dealers seem to carry them.

Stan;
I saw those on their site just a couple of weeks ago, and I may have been hallucinating but I remember the ad stating that they fit the CG5 mount as well, but it doesn't say that anymore. Since it's Orion I can always return it if necessary if it doesn't fit. Thanks.

Stan;
Looks like a winner. BTW, very pretty setup with the shiny black WO.

Thanks...It's actually a Celestron Onyx 80 EDF. I added a WO retro 2 speed focuser.

For light counter weights you can use a length of 16mm all thread, a couple of nuts and as meny washers as you need. 1" washers are a nice weight but you'll have to find some 3/4" thin walled tube to fit over the all thread to center them on the all thread.
